Parking:

Being in the centre of York there is no need for a car, and we are a 15-minute walk from York Train Station. However, if you are travelling to us by car, please see the below for local car parks:

WE ARE NOW LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE SECURED A DESIGNATED PARKING SPOT CLOSE BY!

We have secured a parking space in the Exhibition Pub car park, for our guests only (it is a tight spot to get into but felt that being able to provide our guests with a free parking space rather than having to pay would be more beneficial)

Because parking spaces in York are like gold dust we have to secure the space with a post to ensure any unauthorised cars do not park in the spaces. 

***The lock on the bollard has been broken, so you don’t need the key, you can just lift and lower it.

Please remember to return the post to the upright position and return the key on departure. 

Follow the car park around, through an archway and you will see the back of the apartment building in front of you.

Parking is available from 3 pm on the day of check-in until 11 am on the day of check out. 

***Users of the car parking facility do so at their own risk. We will not accept any responsibility for any damage, accidents or losses.

Welcome to ‘The Palm Suite’

We are delighted you are staying with us, and whatever your reason for visiting, we are here to do everything we can to ensure you have a wonderful stay.

Please read through the information provided to ensure your stay runs smoothly. 

Getting into the City Centre 

Take a left onto the main road (Bootham) and walk towards Bootham Bar 

There has been a gateway here for nearly 2000 years – Bootham Bar is on the site of one of the four main entrances to the Roman fortress. The archway itself dates back to the 11th century. 

Wifi

Local shop/convenience store

There is a Sainsbury’s local just opposite the apartment and a fabulous coffee shop on the main road called NorthSouth.

Dining

The vibrant city of York offers a vast range of fantastic places to eat. With so many options for breakfast, brunch, lunch or evening dining on our doorstep, we feel that the choice should be yours. But we are happy to help you with recommendations to suit your taste.

Heating 

 

The apartment is heated by underfloor heating and is very energy efficient, it retains heat and therefore, an ambient temperature will be reached by setting the thermostat to 21/22°. 

If you do require it any warmer, we kindly ask that before you depart it is returned  to 21/22°.

 To adjust the heating in a particular room, please go into the control panel, located in the kitchen.

Then press options.

 

Press Hold, then Simply press the up or down arrow and confirm the time you’d like it to stay at that temperature.

Oven

Use the round rotary selector to change the operating modes and adjustment values shown in the display. 

Please find the complete instructions in the back of the manual. 

Hob

The main switch is used to switch the hob on and off.

To switch on: Touch the circle with the line through the middle symbol. An audible signal sounds. 

This also switches off the hob. 

The indicators next to the main switch and the hotplate indicators ‘0’ light up. The hob is ready to use.  

Choose your desired hotplate from the symbols. Then select the required heat setting.

Washer dryer 

Determine the programme suitable for the type of laundry and select the function with the programme section knob. 

Please see the manual for more information on washing and drying programs.

Tea and coffee

Please help yourself to tea and coffee during your stay.  

Iron and Ironing Board

The iron and ironing board can be found in the wardrobes next to the bedroom.

Hairdryer

The hairdryer is located in the drawers of the bedside table. 

Sofa Bed

To give you the flexibility of being able to use the sofa at your preferred time, we leave all the bedding and linen for the sofa in a pack to use at your convenience, allowing you to make the most of the apartment during the day.

For bookings of 3/4 guests the bedding and linen is included in your stay, just remove the tags from the bags, when you have finished please leave it out and the cleaning team will arrange for it to be cleaned after your stay. 

If you would like to use the sofa bed during your stay but have only booked for 1/2 guests please get in touch and we can arrange an extra charge to be added to your booking if you wish to use it. 

If tags are removed, a fee will be charged. 

Bedding, mattress topper and linen packs can be foundin the wardrobe at the right hand side. 

TV 

The apartment is equipped with a 55” Samsung Smart TV in the living room, you can log in to your own Netflix and Prime account and access anything on demand. 

Rubbish 

The cleaners will take your rubbish at the end of your stay, however, if you need to dispose of rubbish before your departure. There is a key for the rubbish lock up (usually found in the cutlery drawers) Then make your way out of the building, walk around to your right and right again, where you will find yourself around the side of the building, there is a door on the far left-hand side where the bins are stored. 

Sliding balcony doors

Ensure the handle is at an angle whilst closing the door. 

Then once the door is shut and tight to the frame.    

Move the handle to a vertical position.

This will ensure the door is locked. 

For fire safety we don’t recommend using the keys or thumb locks to double lock the doors. Once the handle is in the vertical position the unit is secure.  

For bedroom doors out to balcony and windows. 

The horizontal position opens the door at the top only allowing ventilation.

The upright position allows door to fully open.

The downwards position locks the door. 

Bathroom smells

The shower traps in the apartments can become loose and if they do become loose, they don’t stop the smells coming up from the pipes. 

If you find this issue, please let us know and we can pop over and push them down to prevent any unpleasant odours.

Luggage storage 

There is a luggage store just a 2-minute walk from the apartment if you arrive before check-in at 3pm or need to store your bags after check out at 11am to continue to explore York

Maintenance

There is a vacuum cleaner in the wardrobe by the bathroom and cleaning products under the sink if you require them. 

Care instructions for the sofas
We can’t stop your friend from spilling wine on your sofa or your kids from smearing chocolate on the seats, so we coated the yarn with stain resistance before the fabric was knitted. We’ve done this to ensure the feel of the fabric is kept. Just use a damp sponge to remove any spillages and follow our four step guide.

  • For stains like mud, ketchup, lipstick or silly putty, you’ll need to get a teaspoon. First, remove any stain residue with the edge of the teaspoon or a flat utensil. For other stains like pen or coffee, you won’t need to do this. Just dampen the fabric and blot.
  • Apply water to the stain and blot using a white paper towel. Do not do the circular motion rub trick because it’ll just rip your paper towel & drive the fibres from it into your fabric. Repeat the process until you can’t see the stain on the paper towel anymore.
  • Apply more water to the area and gently rub with a microfibre cloth. Use soap for stubborn stains. Any white bar of soap will do, whatever you have in the house. Now you can do the circular motion rub trick with a cloth or towel. Repeat the process until the stain is completely removed.
  • This is really important. Don’t use a hairdryer or apply heat to the stain in any way.

    Just air dry.

In case of a fire 

Please familiarise yourself with the building, the exit and safety information by the front door when you arrive. 

If you hear the fire alarm, please leave the apartment and make your way safely to your nearest exit and outside.

If you discover a fire, dial 999/112

Close all the doors to the affected apartment/area 

Sound the fire alarm (if not already activated) by pressing a call point.

Departure

Checking out 

We hope you have had a wonderful stay and want it to be as easy as possible for you to check out. 

Check out is 11am

  • Would you please ensure all windows are shut. 
  • The lights are turned off.
  • We don’t ask you to strip the beds, but we would appreciate it if you could place the used towels in the shower area.
  • Please place all rubbish in the bin provided.
  • Please place all dishes and kitchen utensils in the dishwasher and put on a hot wash.
  • Shut the door behind you
  • Make sure you have all your belongings and have a safe journey home!

Please note a £100 security deposit will be charged if any damage is found.
