The Cocoa Suites are new apartments within the Rowntree Wharf building.

Drive or walk through the gated entrance and follow the road around to the entrance of the building.

Parking: At the entrance of the building there is a drop off point. You can park here for a maximum of 25 minutes while you go into the apartment and collect the fob for the car park.

THERE IS A NEW PAY AND DISPLAY CAR PARK SYSTEM WHICH WILL FINE YOU £100 IF A PARKING TICKET IS NOT BROUGH FROM THEM OR THIS AREA IS    VACATED AFTER 25 MINUTES.

Check-in instructions for The Lion Suite

Apartment 28, Ground floor. 

Check-in: After 3PM

Please follow these instructions rather than the signage around the building as unfortunately it is not up to date yet.

Step 1:

When you arrive at the front door, there is the intercom on the left of the door

Step 2:

Please press # then 2223 and the door will automatically open 

 (please note it can take a good 30 seconds for the door to open – do not pull on the door)

Step 3:

Once in you will see another door ahead of you – next to a set of lifts, enter the same code again, # then 2223 the door will unlock, you will need to pull the handle to open. 

Step 4:

Walk down the ground floor corridor – apartment 28 is on the right hand side. 

Step 5:

Once you have found the apartment, place your hand on the screen for 2 seconds to activate the automated key lock – a key pad will then appear, enter your personal key code (followed by *) to gain access.

Turn the lock and the handle to open the door. 

Please ensure the door is locked behind you when you leave. 

Step 6:

Once you have arrived you will find the parking fob on the kitchen side. 

Parking 

You will need the fob to access the car park either in your car or by foot so do not leave the fob in your car as you will need it to exit the carpark.

The car parking space is number 70 located on the very top floor on the river side.  It’s the 4th parking space from the left.

Please note there is a £40 fee if the fob is lost. 

PLEASE NOTE DUE TO THE NEW PAY AND DISPLAY CAR PARK MONITORING SYSTEM YOU ONLY HAVE 25 MINUTES FROM THE MOMENT YOU ENTER THE GATED ENTRANCE TO COLLECT THE FOB AND MOVE YOUR CAR INTO THE SECURE MULTI STORY CAR PARK.

If you need longer than 25 minutes to unload please purchase a ticket from the pay and display to avoid getting fined.

This is the entrance to the car park, you will need to pull up to the archway and tap the fob on the black panel on the right hand side. 

The gate will open automatically, please drive in and up to the 4th floor to find number 70 parking space. Please do not park in any other parking bay. 

Once parked come down the stairs and use the fob to exit the car park on the ground floor and enter the code at the intercom as before to gain access to the building. 

Extra parking 

Visitor parking spaces, this is on a first come first serve, pay as you go basis. Please ensure you are parked in a designated parking bay.  Follow the steps on the signs to pay via mobile.

We can’t guarantee a parking space but if there isn’t a space then there is a Q-Parking just around the corner.

Once parked it is a 2 minute walk back to the apartment. 

The car park is the building in red, the blue is the walk way to the apartment and the yellow is the apartment building

Walk along side the apartment building and down a set of steps.

Turn right by the suspension bridge and right again for the main entrance.

Instructions for ChocoLets – The Lion Suite 

The ‘ChocoLets’ apartments are all based in the old Rowntree’s chocolate warehouse.  Now known as Nestle. 

Originally one of the largest flour mills in Europe in 1860. The building was situated between the river Foss and Wormald’s cut, The mill closed in 1930 and in 1935 it became the Rowntree and Co’s Navigation Warehouse. Gradually it fell out of use, as road transport replaced river transport. Cocoa bean were brought to the wharf until the 1960s. 

In 1989 This beautiful building was restored into apartments and was extensively renovated in 2018 to offer you trendy industrial feel apartments but with all the benefits of hotel luxury. 

Each of our unique apartments have been named after a famous chocolate bar to keep York’s history alive.

Parking in York is like gold dust!

However there is a now a pay and display at the entrance of the building.  

Alternatively there is a Q Park (shambles) 150 meters away. Follow the walk way around the building, cross over the bridge and down the steps and you will find the car park, this also leads you to the centre of town.

There’s free wifi in the property.

Heating 

The heating has been set up to ensure you have a comfortable stay, however if you need it a little warmer or colder simply use the up and down arrows on the right hand side of the thermostat, Please DO NOT touch the buttons on the left of the thermostat or the radiator itself. You will find the thermostat on the windowsills. 

Hot water 

The Hot water heating system is on a program and you should not need to touch it during your stay.  If however if you do require more hot water there is a boost option. 

In the cupboard next to the front door at eye level, mounted on the wall on the left hand side is the hot water control.  

You will see a red light showing ‘Power’ this shows that the boiler is on but there’s no hot water. 

Press the boost button again and you will see a green light appear next to the red light showing ‘ On’ 

Please note that the boost button does not increase the time it takes to heat the tank but starts the heating process sooner than the timer is set. Hot water is scheduled to be at temperature so if you wish to have more hot water outside these times please click the boost button 2-3 hours before you need. 

Dehumidifier 

Due to the nature of the building the apartment can get steamy, please feel free to use the dehumidifier. 

Press the power button to turn on and set the mode to ‘DRY’ 

Towel Rail 

There is an electronic timer for the towel rail in the shower room. It is located next to the front door by the plug socket. 

There is a grey button to press once if you would like to put the towel rail on for 30 minutes, twice for 1 hour or three times for 2 hours. 

Please note it does get very hot, please be careful, especially with children. 

Kitchen

The well equipped kitchen comes complete with oven/ hob/ fridge freezer/ dishwasher.  It also has all the cutlery and crockery you might need for your stay together with the usual kettle, toaster and bins for waste and recycling items.

Hob

Press the and hold the ‘on’ bottom (circle with line through it) then four 0 should appear representing each ring.

If a light next to the key symbol is showing instead this means that it is locked. 

Press and hold the ‘key’ button 

Then press the ‘on’ button again 

Decided which ring you would like to use and press the button next to the picture of which ring you require- it will flash and then use the + and – buttons to control the temperature.

When you have finished cooked press the ‘on’ button to switch off- please remember the rings may still be hot!  

Oven 

Press the power symbol to turn on. Turn the ‘6th Sense’ dial to choose which function i.e. fan symbol for fan assisted oven cooking. Press the ‘6th Sense’ dial to confirm. Continue in a similar way to then choose the temperature and time.

Tea and Coffee

Please help yourself to tea and coffee during your stay, there is also some milk in the fridge. 

Iron and Ironing Board

The iron can be found in the bedroom wardrobe and the ironing board in the cupboard next to the front door. 

TV 

Using the silver smart remote to switch on the TV you will find access to all the normal channels.

You can use amazon prime for free.

If you have your own Netflix account you can log in.

Bedding 

There are extra pillows if need in the wardrobe and a cosy throw is provided for those chilly evenings.

On request the apartment has both a double and single sofa bed in the lounge for larger families (this is subject to an additional charge) 

Getting into town 

For easy accessibility (to avoid the steps) cross straight over the modern suspension bridge (rather than following the walk away around the building) follow the path around to the left and walk through the modern apartment blocks, once out on to the main road take a right and this will bring you out on to Stonebow and lead you up to M&S, The Shambles and the centre of town. 

Local shop/convenience store

The closest shops are probably the main supermarkets across the main road, The is a Morrison’s and Waitrose.

Cafes and Cake!

I would highly recommend Fossgate a up and coming trendy road full of independent shops and bars just a 2 minute walk from the apartment. 

Dining

The vibrant city or York offers a huge range of fantastic places to eat. With so many options for breakfast, brunch, lunch or evening dining on our doorstep we feel that the choice should be yours. But if you would like some inspiration check out our website for our favourite places to eat and drink.

Wash up all dishes or put in the dishwasher 

Make sure you have all your belongings and have a safe journey home!

Health and Safety  

Please take note of the fire safety notice in the main reception behind the glass cabinet and please familiarise yourself with your nearest exit. 

In case of a fire 

All doors in the apartment are fire safety doors, designed to contain the fire at its starting point 

If you hear the fire alarm please leave the apartment and make your way to the main entrance – this is the assembly point 

If you discover a fire dial 999/112

Close all the doors to the affected apartment/area 

Sound the fire alarm (if not already activated) by pressing a call point situated adjacent to fire staircase on the escape routes
