When you arrive at 25 Sycamore Terrace, you will see a small screen which is the smart lock.
Step 2:
Place your hand on the screen to activate the keypad.
Step 3:
A keypad will appear. type in your personal code (we will provide this for you) followed by the star key *
Step 4:
Then turn the knob clockwise and push down on the brass door handle.

Getting into the City Centre
There are several ways into the centre of York, but here are 3 of our favourites.
Firstly, down the main road of Bootham:
Turn right out of the house, right again, then left up the main road which leads you up a slight hill – Bootham Terrace – At the top of the road, turn right onto Bootham and follow the road straight down to the city walls.
Through museum gardens:
Turn right out of the house, right again, then cross over the road and under the arch of the railway track, walk straight on, with the car park on your right and straight on down a pedestrian path, cross over the main road, (further up this road – Marygate- there’s a great pub called the ‘Minster Inn’, they do great pizzas) then over to your left you’ll see the black iron gates of museum gardens. Follow the path that takes you straight through the beautiful gardens, and you’ll come out the other side into the centre of town.
The museum gardens open around 10 am and shut at dusk.
Down by the river:
Turn left out of the house, left again, and in the top right-hand corner of the street, you’ll see some steps. Follow them around, and you’ll end up on the river path. Take a right for a lovely walk up along the river to some fields. Or take a left and follow the river into town.
This is also one way to York train station. You’ll walk under a bridge, if you walk over the top along the bridge, it will take you straight into the train station.
Local shop/convenience store
There’s a little Sainsbury just down Bootham towards town, Address: 31 Bootham, York YO30 7BT, open 6 am – 12 am every.
Bakery
As you come onto Bootham, if you turn left, there is a lovely bakery called ‘Dough’

The vibrant city of York offers a vast range of fantastic places to eat. With so many options for breakfast, brunch, lunch or evening dining on our doorstep, we feel that the choice should be yours. However, we are happy to help you with recommendations to suit your taste.

TV
Use the silver remote to access all the on-demand services via apps – like Netflix, Prime, Now TV, Apple TV & Disney Plus, iPlayer, ITVX etc.
To turn the sound on, use the remote on the right and press the TV Symbol at the top. This will turn the Bose system to the correct input.
Speakers around the House.
We have Apple Home Pod speakers in the kitchen and master bedroom. You can access them in 2 ways if you have an iPhone. When connected, you can use airplay to connect to them. Alternately, say “Hey Siri play……………..” Whatever you want.
Lights
The lamp in the living room and in the bedroom are on a timer, so they will come on at dusk and turn off around 10:30 pm, but control them manually by pressing the button on the side of the plug.
Sofa bed
The sofa in the window is the sofa bed.
The seat pulls up, down, and out, and then the backrest folds down to complete the bed. There’s a mattress topper in the cupboard next to the sofa, where you will also find duvets, pillows, and mattress protectors.
A black box will be left with linen and towels in.
Oven
The main oven:
Turn the far left-hand dial to control the temperature
The second dial in turn to 11 o’clock for a normal fan oven
Then, the other half of the dials are for the gas hob.
Pushing in to ignite, then turn to control strength
Microwave, kettle and toaster can be found in the cupboard behind the kitchen door
Hob
We have a gas hob. Please be careful when using it and ensure the dials are fully turned off once you have finished cooking.
Washing machine
Turn on (press the circle with the line through it)
Then move the dial around to the preferred setting
You can adjust the temperature and spin by pressing these buttons
And press play.
Heating
The heating is on a schedule, but if you want to change the temperature, twist the dial to your preferred temperature. You can find the control here:
Hot water
There’s always hot water. if you have any issues, just let us know
The boiler is in the end kitchen cupboard behind the door.
Dishwasher
Dishwasher tablets are kept under the sink along with other cleaning products
Pop a tablet in, turn it on at the top of the door and then shut it, and it will begin.
House rules
Please remove your shoes while upstairs,
If you get a chance to water the plants, it would be greatly appreciated
Avoid oily products or leaving water on the wooden cabinet in the ensuite as it marks easily.
Turning on the dehumidifier when drying clothes or using the shower – if it is too cold to open windows – the house can get very humid; otherwise
Please bring your own firewood if you wish to use the log burner
Bathroom ventilation
There’s a switch for the bathroom fan next to the light switch. Please use this function when showering. Once turned off, it will take 5-10 minutes for the fan to stop.
Tea and coffee
Please help yourself to tea, instant coffee and sugar during your stay.
Bins
There is a bin just outside the garden gate.
Keys
There is no key for the front door, but please leave keys for the back doors in the doors at all times.
Taxi
A local Taxi number is 01904 365365.

Maintenance
In the middle cupboard in the living room (push on the doors and they will pop open) there’s a hoover and mop and cleaning products under the sinks.
If you notice anything that needs our attention, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Please be mindful of our neighbours while enjoying your stay.
Checking out
We hope you have had a wonderful stay and want it to be as easy as possible for you to check out.
Check out is 11am
Because there are no keys, we ask that you to simply shut the door behind you and your code will expire after 11am.
- Please ensure all windows are shut
- Lights are turned off
- We don’t ask you to strip the beds but if you wouldn’t mind putting your used towels in the shower/bath
- Please put all your rubbish in bin provided or in bins outside
- Wash up all dishes or put in the dishwasher
- Make sure you have all your belongings and have a safe journey home!
Please note we do take a £100 security deposit that will be refunded within 7 days of check out if the house is left tidy and without damage.
